Abstract(s)
AbstractLanguage
Mosquitoes (Diptera: Culicidae) are an important group of insects due to their role as vectors of human zoonoses. Within the genus Aedes, competent vector species exist, and several species are recognised as invasive. Among them are the globally spread vectors Aedes albopictus (the Asian tiger mosquito) and Aedes aegypti (the Yellow Fever mosquito). Two other invasive species are Aedes koreicus and Aedes japonicus, both being established in Europe.
Here, we present an annotated genome of Aedes japonicus from a laboratory strain from the species' native distribution range, Japan. It provides a basis for a deeper understanding of its phylogenetic relationships, give insights in the evolution of cold tolerance, and also support studying candidate genes, e.g., related to vector competence or insecticide resistance.
In this database, we provide the genome annotation of Aedes japonicus in ggf3-format together with its respective genome assembly in fasta-format. In addition, this dataset includes the amino acid- and protein-sequence files (extensions: .aa and .codingseq).
The corresponding genome can be found at the NCBI database under the BioProject number PRJNA1085103. The mitochondrial genome can be found with the GenBank accession number MZ566802. A detailed methodological description can be found in the publication XXX.
